road through tunnels

When I was little, we used to drive these tunnels on our way to Yellowstone Park. There’d be a cooler of sandwiches and drinks in the trunk, and a passel of kids in the back seat. When dad would drive into the tunnel, he always honked the horn.

I’m not sure why we got so excited about that, except it does echo for half a second and there wasn’t a lot to do in the backseat except slug each other.

But for us, it WAS a wormhole of sorts, to a land of many wonders (bears, which excited me much less than the geysers).

Did you ever honk when going through a tunnel? Have tunnels to fun family adventures? Think I’ve seriously lost it?

I love comments so much that I pick a favorite to receive my monthly AnaBanana gift basket ($25 value).  (And don’t forget that once a quarter I’ll be tossing in something fun from the Perilously Fun Shop!) Recipient is announced the first blog post of the new month.

Perilously yours,

Pauline

We used to hold our breath and make a wish. If you could hold your breath the entire time you were in the tunnel, the wish would come true.

I remember doing that, too! I’d forgotten! There are some tunnels in Louisiana? I would have passed out! LOL
