Besotted Cover art

The idea for Besotted has been rolling around in my mind for ages. The series is inspired by the Final Fantasy games, which I played growing up on the SNES. I loved FF6 the most, which had magic, old castles, steamtech, airships, and whole cast of characters to explore a new world. I played the game so much that I had it practically memorized.

For the Chaos Factor Series, I really wanted to capture the wonder and adventure from the games. I also wanted to write about a skilled, strong woman who is more than she seems. I think I accomplished that with Tamsyn.

With designs at being a teacher, she has overcome great adversity to attain her rank. She grew up poor, studied hard, and withstood high society discrimination. Then she meets a prince with no shot at the crown and a desire to be more than a diplomat. He’s strong, smart, kind, and a gaze that makes her heart flutter. Sparks fly, inhibitions are lost, and the prince and Tamsyn wake up the next day in each other’s arms.

Conflicted between her heart and her dreams, Tamsyn bolts but doesn’t get a chance to pursue either as an evil scientist abducts her as part of his plot. Slade and all her friends rally to find and save her in the start of a global upheaval that no one saw coming.

This was fun to write and I’ve got big things planned for the series, none of which I’ll spoil here. But check out Besotted and find out more about Tamsyn and Slade.
