From the hubs’ Favorites of 2012:

“Favorite #8, 2012: A glance from a redheaded beauty captured during Dickens on the Strand, a Victorian Holiday Festival in Galveston, Texas. This Lady and her sister had posed for a few photographs in their Victorian dresses and hat. They asked that I capture the back of the dresses to show the bustles and lace work. I caught this over the shoulder glance as I was using the telephoto to try to get a detail shot of the hat. I am very happy with how it turned out. I hope she will be.”

I was honored to find my picture in his favorites (though I’m happy to be a favorite in his real life!). One reason, IMHO, that the hubs gets such awesome face shots is that he likes people. He, I’m not sure how to explain it, but you know he’s a nice guy and he just likes people. So they like him. This collection is a mix of people and scenery shots. I feel like this shot could be a story starter for a writer who is feeling stuck. I also loved this fog shot.

Do you prefer people or scenery shots? Do they spark your creativity? Comments are entered into my monthly drawing for a $10 AnaBanana gift card. Winner announced the first blog post of the month. πŸ™‚

I’m hoping to have at least one more audio book release this week. You’d think I’d be better at waiting by now. I have tried praying for patience, but every time I did, the hubs got sick, so he asked me to stop. It wasn’t working that well anyway…

Perilously yours,

Pauline

That’s a lovely shot. I don’t ‘do’ people. But then, I’m not at all a people person.

The only people I take pictures of are family. The hubs started taking people shots so he could improve his family shots and then he just got interested in faces. I think he’s gotten really good at getting people to relax and smile for him, though I still even trouble — even though he always edits down the jowls. LOL!

I’m not sure I could choose a favorite topic of pictures that inspire me because I’ve had both scenery and people populated pics do it for me.

I wonder if photos are like books? We have to feel some kind of chemistry with the shot, whether it is people or a place? Hmmm….
