The single greatest gift for me is to be able to give to others. I am honored to share my talents to bring joy and offer support through the Embrace the Romance: Pets in Space 2 Project. ~ Susan
I’ve been asked for quite some time when would I write Grandma Pearl’s story. Yep, I said it! The G-word! Grandma! LOL.
I knew I would have a story for her when I wrote A Dragonling’s Easter and had her taken away by an older, battle-scarred dragon-shifting warrior. After all, I thought, who could be a better fit for Pearl than a dragon?
Pearl reminds me a lot of my mom and my grandmother – where do you think I got the idea for the rock salt in the gun? Yep, my grandma! She was a tiny woman with silver hair and a feisty personality. She could cut a path through the woods and tell you what every plant was and then turned around and made dresses and dolls for me.
On the other hand, I can remember my mom shooting a guy in the butt for stealing towels off the clothes line. She did tell him to stop or she would shoot! She nailed him as he was going over the fence. The guy grabbed his rear-end, and high-tailed it across the field as fast as he could go. It turns out he and my older brother decided to go for a midnight swim down at the lake and my brother sent him for the towels.
These are the stories of the women I grew up with – strong, feisty, passionate, and with a humongous heart. Pearl is just like them and deserved to find her HEA. As I grow older, I realize that love isn’t for just the young, but for any age. I’ll be the first to admit that I love my hubby more now than ever. I think he is sexy, handsome, and my hero. I’m not as trim and fit as I was in my youth. So what! I am still a woman who loves to be held and wants to be loved.
Love isn’t about age, it is about finding that someone who completes you. So, if you are young, remember one day you’ll be older and never rule out finding the partner of your dreams. If you are older – live like there is no tomorrow and have a blast while you are doing it!
Excerpt from Pearl’s Dragon:
Life was too damn short to risk not embracing the spontaneous moments that were too good to pass up. Pearl knew she was on the other end of the scale when it came to life, so she needed to be extra vigilant. Following her two granddaughters to another world was one adventure she was glad she hadn’t passed up. This was going to be another.
Touching her tongue to his lips, she took advantage when he opened for her. She felt him stiffen before a soft groan escaped him and he wrapped both arms around her and tightly pressed her against his body. She tightened her hold on him and settled down to enjoy the kiss. Holy Venus, Goddess of Love, but it had been a long time since she’d felt this kind of arousal.
She pulled back, pressing small kisses to his lips and the corner of his mouth before running them along his jaw. A silent squeal of excitement raced through her when his hands frantically moved from her waist down to cup her buttocks. This was a man who knew what he wanted.
“Say yes,” he ordered in a husky voice. “Say you want me as much as I want you.”
Pearl chuckled and slid her hand along his neck, down his chest, skimmed the waistband of his trousers, and continued lower. She felt his response to her brazen touch. There was nothing wrong with his packaging. She could tell everything was in working order going by the swelling under the palm of her hand.
“Oh yes,” Pearl murmured against his lips. “You bet your sweet ass I want this.”
